  • For Cods Sake

    Tonight (Wednesday) 19:30 BBC2

    Might be of interest....
Investigation into the falling stocks of cod in British waters and how a Shetland family business is now attempting to farm cod commercially, following the MD as he tries to persuade city investors to put money into the project

Just watched it. The bloke has started with 25,000 cod which will be increasing to 500,000 over the next few months. It will take 2-2.5 years to bring each cod to market.

Meanwhile they have also started Cod Farming in Norway. They plan to be producing 100,000 tons/year by the year 2010.

If they can achieve this without screwing the environment then it will relieve the current pressures on North East cod stocks and mean more fish for us lads to catch

Of course it will also affect the trawler lads as the over supply will mean a lowering of price (exactly what happened with Salmon).

    Discuss ......

Hi L,B What woold be there probalem with that??? I presume you wer\'nt useing T.N.T. to catch it or some sort of electrifacation ( that must be the longest word I\'v ever typed !!) or poision to catch it , so I dont see what there probalem would be? agreed it do\'nt look to good snapping its head off, but I can not see a quicker or more humane or is it pisceimane (sorry) way of despatching the the fish, Quick & clean.. I cannot think why G,P would be there unless they are looking for the idiots who catch 50 odd macky and then dump them at the end of the pier ,, I must also add that I have\'nt got a single gripe about G,P who do a great job policeing the enviroment and informing governments and the people of how much dammage they are doing to Mother Nature , be it politics,, policies or pollution,,,
