  • Sea Angler - Tackle Shops

Whilst browsing this month,s edition of sea angler I came across a feature on the walkway in South Shields, a very interesting read indeed. But !!! I would absolutely hate to be a stranger coming to my home town to get bait to fish the walkway as the nearest shop is frazers in gateshead. I do think that both Reelsport shops and s+a bait supplies and even andy rutherfords have a good right to moan to the sea angler as they are not getting a very good coverage in the national mag as to the nearest tackle shops to the walkway. Anyway getting ready for the Deal open in kent, the nearest tackle shop handy andy the crabmaster in inverness.....

Weefus, it happens all the time and i dont think Sea Angler are the only culprits.

Perhaps Matchman may have a reply on this one as there may be some simple explanation to it.
If people think you are an idiot, why speak and remove all doubt !

get it sorted paul.its a very false lead to anyone going there to fish to get bait.i was in newcastle a fortnight ago but could not find a tackle shop any where.perhaps the magazine should do a feture on tackle shops in certain areas???

Rather than cut the copy of the venue, obviously the list of shops were cut down - this is out of my hands as I don't do the layout...sorry if it caused upset to any dealers.
Paul, sorry but that seems like a pretty lame attempt at an excuse.
I personally am not the least bit bothered about Reelsport not being mentioned, however you owe it to your readers to be more accurate.
If it was about space then surely it would have been better to name the closest shop to the venue which would have been s&a baits.

If it cant be done correctly then it shouldnt have been done at all.

This is not a new thing with fishing magazines, If you go back 15 or so years you will see exactly the same thing when area reports have appeared in them. Not a great idea though, perhaps the people that do the layout would be more inclined to get it right if they were to travel to another area to fish and find that they had bypassed a couple of shops and had to travel an extra 20 or so miles needlessly or are they not fishermen lol.

          Jim.
Remember, some people are alive simply because it is illegal to shoot them.

yer i might be facts but dont you think you should put the correct facts in there??
            like the closest tackel shop.....
im only going on what ive read here, as i dont know the area or havnt seen the artical, but it sounds like i dont realy want to either.
Means to say what about the young readers who dont know the area who want to fish there, they might think that they will have to go all the way to gateshead to get more bait if they run out.
so maybee try to get some more accurate info in there plz.

Paul, correct me if i am wrong but judging by your replies you along with others down at Sea Angler seem to think this sort of thing is acceptable.

And believe me this is not just a one off, there have been other incidents where your magazine has got it wrong and when approached the answer has been pretty much the same as what you have come out with.
I for one think that sort of excuse and reply is unacceptable, but you will not be bothered about what i think.
