  • oh where did you get that fish

Can someone tell me summit, i was fishing next to a guy at Whitley and he caught a codling. He was in a match and i heard he had told people at the weigh in he had caught the fish elsewhere! Does this mean he is a cheat or just a lier and cant be trusted.I think its both! whats the point of doing this its just asking for trouble

When fishing Blyth i was approached by someone fishing a match asking if i was putting the 4 pound cod i had caught back.
I was and he hinted that as it would prob win the match it might be " worth something to him".
    I put the fish back.
Always be someone willing to cheat but to your post,if he was outside the limits of the comp then he was cheating.

Then it maybe immoral but he may simply have wanted to protect a mark from it becoming general knowledge.
Understand if he has spent time finding and learning that mark but not something i would feel happy doing

Some people dont like to give marks away becuase it will be packed the next few nights etc

          Mark x and so on.

In some ways its understandable, have a good night in a comp and have bait left, think why not will use it tomora night from the same spot but turns up and 10 people fishing it.

Same with boat fishing, shore fishing, trout and every thing else in life.

Couple of exaples...Hendon behind the tanks/lane, start of the season only 2-6 people fishing on a night sea, word gets out and its packed out, police get wind and mark stopped for a while.

Wreck fishing, fish a comp report the wreck to other boat anglers, word get around next weekend its like the A1 charters and private boats waiting in turn for the drift. (3 in a row that day)

Also any reg bass fisherman will never post his catch report in great detail if at all on a public forum or make it well known in a tackle shop, mark will be wiped out very quick.

Human Nature but yes it is lieing and yes it is wrong and right at the same time.

Cmon lads you know as well as i do there are no secret marks on the north east.Anyway if you are leisure fishing then fair enough the point is if you are in a club match and you catch fish and turn up at the weigh in and you caught the fish in a different area than where you said! Then some other angler turns up and was fishing in the place he said he was and saw him catch nothing?????????? total blaa blaa blaa LIARS

Just out of interest.........as the successful captain of the North team this year (had anyone forgotten lol) and having publicised openly where I was fishing........did anyone fish there the next day? I suspect not. As dubla says there are no secret marks but if the person in question had said he was fishing Whitley beach that narrows it down to a good dozen marks - not giving that much away in my eyes. To be more exact Marty E was fishing Tynemouth beach (in the comp what we won), I know where he was fishing, he caught more fish on the beach than me but if I had fished it the next tide I'd have stayed where I was 'cos I thought I was in the best spot, but quite possibly the beach would have been in a different state the following tide. Skullduggery maybe.

Touche Stewy........thing is I did fish the next tide, as I reported, and I didn't fish it either, prefering Sharpness 'cos it looked better. Funny old game.
