  • Conoflex Anubis.

Is there anyone that uses a conoflex-anubis, had any trouble with it?
i have ordered one and after ordering i saw some comments around on the net
which have confused me a bit. its 50/50 good and bad.
now i would like to ask the people who know these things(you guys)
i have been away from the N.E. for about 20 odd years and live in denmark.
i grew up around sunderland/durham area where i used fish the piers and coast-line. am really glad to have found this site. great to see pics and read up on whats happening over there!

I now live in Fife, but was brought up and still fish the N.E of England around the Tyne area. I have an Anubis Plus and it is an excellent heavy ground rod with loads of backbone. Nice to use and forgiving during the cast it can skull drag coddies through the kelp no problem. I have not used it for dragging fish up a cliff yeet but it is an excellent rock rod and well worth the price tag. Got mine for £190 off ebay and it was a custom built model which is still in tip top condition.

still the same blank mate. never used one myself as my favour are century rods but a mate of mine has one and he swears by it and he fishes nothing but the heavy ground. as for rods snapping i have see greys, conoflex, century and ron t and diawa rods snap in the past so its not just down to one make, its the person using it or a fault in the blank in the first place so dont worry mate you enjoy your fishing with your new rod

Thanks for your reply red rock, i just read a zziplex report which said they have a dosen rods a year returned, mostly its the anglers fault, resting it on steel rails and concrete walls etc. they should be treated with great care,
i mainly use a light 11ft bass-rod which i could tie in a knot without breaking it! its good enough for the flat sandy beaches of denmark, but not the rough rocky areas which iam targeting(thats where the cod are!) well the cod season is slowly starting over here.still waiting for me rod, takes 6 weeks

                anubis

got the 7oz one for the rocks. fished marks from beadnell to the tyne in heavy kelp, never had a prob and it drags cod out the heavy beds with ease. developed by bob gascoign and alec harvey, two of the norths top anglers, the rods were specifically designed for robust use. all rods will snap if you get a badun which ever make it is, all i can say is ive got one and a century and never had a prob with either.

any rod will snap in the wrong hands, bad casting style is one of the biggest parts to play and people just hacking away with them, treat your gear with care and it will last

jan/feb are the worst months then in march they start coming in at night. then april/may/june great evening fishing!
they come really close in (smtimes you can see them splashing on the surface).as most danes are spin/fly fishermen they catch a lot, actually most cod over here are caught on a spinner. not me i like the good old N.E.Style
july/aug.it goes down hill a bit, but still good night fishing.(cod feed after dark by morning they are full up and swim to deep water, making morning/day fishing a waste of time) then its high season sept/oct/nov and the starting of dec.when you can catch them all day long...if they are there of coarse!
" you cant pluck roses where no roses grow"

by the way seatrout are the main target for danes. me i love the ol`coddies

Hi Ronvik, When your new rod turns up, take it out of the bag and lash a reel on to it, clip the specified weight lead (max weight ), and give it some wellie . Also, deliberately get a fast hold on the sea bed and give it some more wellie. if it's gonna go, it's gonna go , but if it stays in one piece you are going to have all the confidance you need when you have to get that distance , or bully the fish through the rough stuff.
