  • fathom 15 bought ready magged

bought one new and ready magged ,mag goes through the clicker hole so you loose that, not that impressed with the finish mind.leaves a big hole that would let water/salt ect get in behind the side plate, made a little hard plastic cover that ill have to super glue in place then ill seal it from the back, would be better with a metal blanking plate but that's beyond me

glued the plastic blank in place then cleaned the loads of penn blue grease of the inside of the plate, sealed the ratchet hole with water proof silicone then just in case gave the inside of the plate a thin smear of abu grease to help protect it.not perfect but better than the big hole that was there

if you read up on them theres problems with the brake blocks jumping on when doing a big cast plus they turn to dust.first fathom ive bought mind so don't know how true this is

Your rite fellah, got mine magged b4 it even had line on,brakes prone to "springing on"during casting, save the hassle m8 n get it converted
Ps don't like the hole, but good job with your repair buddy.

Brake blocks turn to dust. Thats a good one.and I suspect claim made by aftermarket mag unit manufactures. They do cast further with a well set up mag unit tho. But not as far if badly set up

as said its the first one ive had so its just what ive read and been told off a lad I work with,he got chris macey to do his reel,he seems to make a good job.anyway been on phone for a hour to Jamie at pmr and he asked for pics of the mag ect,the reels away down to him now ,hes using it as a bit of a prototype and re drilling the plate then putting a big 12mm mono mag on it,ill put some pics up when it comes back
