need some advice please fellas need a rough ground rod and got the chance of an apollo mk 11 13' cheap, and was wondering what, if any, (apart from the obvious length of course!) the difference(s) are between that and the 14foot version. couple of the the boys i get out with use the 14' model and love using them amongst the rocks and kelp, and i must admit i've had a blast and agree. are the characteristics of both rods similar? will the 13 foota fish as well as the longer rod in the rough stuff? or do i do like a lot of folk and go for an R T Axcellerator, (the apollo is a year old and cheaper than a new R T) divvunt be shy wa all entitled to an opinion! cheers chaps

I'm no expert but a number of people are not as keen on the mark IIs...I was advised a while ago that if you can get hold of a mark I then that would be your better bet...I nearly bought one myself but it was a bit too tatty and battered

If I hadn't been gifted a Platinum GSI in a raffle I'd have been looking to get myself a RT Axe' as they're a really good rock rod...stiff as a broom compared to some rods but ideal for out and out heavy ground fishng

    Just my opinion tho'
    Ooh a new vid!

I had the Apollo 2 and it was a barge pole, wasnt too keen on it. I do like the nitra though, not as beefy but a canny allrounder I reckon.

I use the RT Axellerator and i find it spot on for all my fishing. I fish the rocks, cliffs, piers and the only time it has let me down is when i smacked it off the rocks in Eyemouth last summer and snapped the tip in half! Went and got another the next week, go for the stiffer one of the 2 if you have a choice. Mines the stiff one and its the 4-8oz, i think the softer one is the 4-6oz. Only problem you may have is finding one because i was told that they dont make them any more, might be wrong tho.

Love my RT's, i have 2 and use them to fish everywhere. The mk 1 apollo looks good tho and i happen to know of a lad selling a mint 1 on here if you look in the for sale section. You might be unlucky tho and it might be gone!!
