I have just returned from Sunderland where i attended a prelimanary meeting regarding the future of the Northern Federation of Sea Angling Socities the biggest Federation in the North East and one of the biggest in the country, with over fifty clubs and 3000 members. Over seventy letters and forty plus e mails where sent to various club officials for their views before the AGM at the MAC centre on Thursday. We had a hectic time looking through all three replies. If you are a member of a member club i suggest you get in touch with your secretary before thursday to find out why they have not replied. If a committe can not be elected on thursday then the Federation will very likely be wound up.

The post was as a direct result of a chat with sam harris. He told me he is involved with trying to get the NAtional FSA back of the ground not the northern. Its confusing.
I posted because I had never heard of them and at the moment all angling bodies need to work together to get the best for anglers. I have no particular allegiance to any body . But if they exist I could do with a contact.
Sam is a member here but hasn't posted for a while for whatever reason.
There is a place for an organisation with the NE anglers as number one priority. But to be honest I am starting to find out why any organisation wanting to get a better deal for us up here in the NE is facing an uphill struggle.
Its not often I get annoyed about anything as I am a firm believer in the fact everyone is entitled to their opinion, but I recieved an email this morning from defra saying that Newbiggin is in the NE sea fisheries region. Seems Northumberland doesn't exist ...or at least as far as fisheries management are concerned.
This is perhaps why they wont confirm a seperate meeting for those of you who fish in the northern area of the NE SFC region..thats hartlepool to south shields. Seems they think they already have it covered.
Please help if you have any contact details.
Cheers
Dave
