  • Fishing Marks near to Alnwick

    Hi everyone,

I'd like to take my brother-in-law out for some fishing. It's not something he's done before and so he doesn't have any tackle or, importantly, waders.

He lives up in Alnwick so I'd like your recommendations of any marks that aren't too big a drive from there where I won't have to ask him to wade anywhere....so I guess I'm after piers/proms/beach marks and not rocks. Also for each mark, what's a good tide to fish it on.

    I've got 2 x 14' rods so I'll keep him busy. :-)

    Cheers, Simon.

Hi Simon, you could try fishing from the harbour at Craster at high water. Never fished there myself but almost every time I fish the rock marks up there someone is on the small jetty. There is also Amble pier that is always worth a try and easy for a novice fisherman as a long cast is not needed. Again high water is the best time for here. A lot of the beaches up that way can be good for flatties also and a long cast is not needed.

    Hope this helps a bit.

    Jim.
