  • lithium grease

    Evening all.just on serviceing a few reels n cant find my reel grease.got plenty white lithium grease thats used on bikes n wondering if that be ok for gear cogs on the reels.me thinking it should be ok as holds well onto parts when used on bikes.cheers

    I use proper marine grease for all my reels from my biking days white lithium grease tends to break down and get displaced pretty quickly from my experience

      I have just been on the fishing reel repair by alan tani who repairs and services reels and he says to avoid it and all the posts are from people who have used it and they say avoid it at all costs as it hardens quite quickly .Hope this helps .

        Hope I'm not doing wrong myself. I use Silicon grease.
        Told the missus I was going on a diet. I'd only eat what I caught

          I use silicon grease as well m8 and i have had no probs with it at all .

            Pleased i asked before useing it.hope i can find my other reel grease.if not were is the best place local to get marine grease.

                I got mine from a marine gears engineering company in blaydon but dont think its there anymore. ..you could just search online m8 for local companies etc?? Hope that helps you m8

                        Tube of silicon grease can be had from Maplins. Great for uses around the house too. It cured our lass's squeeky 4ss
