Exactly the same as me, k guides and Alconites. I don't have a rod with Alconites mind but I have a rod with BNHGs and I think they are spot on. I'm
Not a fan of minimas but it depends on the colours of the rod etc, some of them just look proper cheap

Minimas are rubbish in my opinion.. Unless you plan on throwing your rod about rocks and want to be able to bend them back with no hassle.. However.. They will bend if you look at them too hard.. And will groove if you run a pube through them.. And the tip rings are even worse!!

I always found that alconites inserts broke far too easy for my liking and have heard that the KWAGs are the same although never used them myself.. Don't get me wrong though.. The chrome KWAGs make a rod look fantastic!!

I have BNOGs on one (I think they are BNOGs.. The ones with greyish/brown inserts) and really like them.. Not had any bother.. My other rod has the old BHNGs (not the naffy newer ones) taped on.. I abuse this rod, throw it around the rocks etc and they've never broken at all! But that's why they're taped.. If they do break I'll just tape a new one on! Use some decent butchers/bagging tape and it holds absolutely fine!

I use zircon tip rings on both.. They are in my opinion the best you can get!

              Obviously each to their own!

Like alconites , got chrome ones on a couple of rods and black ones on another two , only ever broke a couple in past and that was my fault .

For functionallity and ruggedness bhng's. Zircons are awesome. Alconites are utter pap and I don't like minimas either. It all depends on if you want to use a rod or sit and look it in the house or on a field. Me ? I'd rather fish with it.

like allready mentioned bnhg's r a good reliable guide(old type)altho some what heavy, they can take a good knock where some guides r very hard(don't groove)but r very brittle n brake at a sparrow's fart.used to like the minima's till two of me rods r now shotgrooved up to the max.Personally like the alconites(as long as your carefull)not good if u r a ruff arse lol.Used to like the old sic's too,the grey insert ones, were hard wearing n lightweight,we all have our favs tho like with anything tackle related.

BNHG's are a bit dated now but still have them on my kompressor s and abu ambassadeur elite, My zziplex has KWAG's on and have Minima 4's on my conoflex ballistic and had no issues with them..Not sure whats on my P3 but think they are Zircons....BIt of mix and match lol but over all I prefer the KWAG's

Think your rite buddy,if I had a new rod built I would go for the kwag's but I do like the black alconites tooWould never use pac bays minima's again, both my m427 n my bullet gt r knackered now(guides nearly cut thru,as they r so badly grooved)they look the dogs mind, but not long b4 they groove.

Never really liked the kwags on ld rods as a think they to beefy ;-) blk or silver alconites do the biz for me also to me they seem more compact for the same size ring pattern ?
