  • Scenarios - Cullercoats Harbour

Just a thought I have and would like to put it out for discussion: relates to fishing Cullercoats Harbour.

    1. Massive sea on (NE, E) makes most rock marks/beaches unfishable. What state of the tise would you fish the harbour? Could you literally fish the beach between the breakwaters at high tide and could it produce?

    2. 1. Massive sea on (NE, E) makes most rock marks/beaches unfishable. Low tide this time. Could/would you fish and expect to catch from the skeers closest to the north and south breakwaters - again, casting into the harbour again.

Rumour has it that this area is a big fish shot: with MM's big 24iber and various other ones coming from shots near here. But to me, that harbour, and indeed fishing off the beach, looks a perfect shot when there is big movement on.

I wouldn't venture beyond the piers with a big sea on, I've heard of folks being washed off at high water

Never thought about chucking between the piers at high water, if u can fling a lead through the piers with big NE or E in your face dont see why not

Answer 1 - Yes you can fish the beach and yes it may produce, especially with a long cast although there tends not to be any sea on within the harbour, more a massive roll.

Answer 2 - fish on the south side of the Harbour at low water, never seen a sea too big to fish, just too small a tide sometimes.

MM's fish was a canny walk from the Harbour, but yes it is a big fish mark, countered somewhat by the hundreds who have come away empty handed. It is not a "lot of fish" mark.

Funny to see this thread today. Cullercoats was the first place I ever fished at 12 yr old. Never fished it for years but went there today. Plenty bites on the flood. Ended up with one 4lb 4oz, South side of the harbour.
