  • Sea Houses Pier

Been looking on Google Earth there, for places to fish from rocks at low tide,as never tryed there before.
And wondered if the pier (the south one) was fishable and if you are allowed on it,if so is it safe, and is it any good to fish.

    thx.

yes the south pier is pefectly safe to fish off unless in heavy seas esecially with any sort of easterly in it. you need to walk around harbour on a low water to get to it on big tides it can be cut off at high water. the pier can be fished with float for coalies and pollock and mackeral (in summer).Bottom fishing in to the harbour for small stuff (coddlin and coalies) and some good flounder and plaice to 2lb+. Into the sea side is heavier bottom(kelp) good red cod shot and pollock, coalies again. Hope that helps mate.

Be very carefull when fishing this mark, we used to fish it all the time but had a bit of a bad one on there once. The weather took an unexpected turn and we got a bit stuck.

Last time I was there they had put signs up to say keep off, or something of that nature.

No probs, thats just my take on the spot. You do get cut off at high tide and if the weather does turn you can get into trouble.

I have had some nice fish there though, 2lb coalie on a 6ft telescopic spinning rod (that was fun). I used to get a lot of wrasse off there too, also some red cod from the kelp, oh and a good few lobsters.

Had a week in a caravan in the summer up at Seahouses. (thats what got me fishing again).
Lovely place to go and second what everyone is saying.
I would buy yoour bait from own tackle shops as you only get small boxes in little tackle shop in town.
Personal best, 12.5lb Tope Scotland. 22/05/2012.

Had some fantastic days fishing from Seahouses pier. Records....1998 june 26th high tide...using two rods caught 56 coalie, 2 pollack, 3 mackerel and 1 codling on lug and mackerel.

Not fished the pier since then but have seen others pulling in small coalie's and flouders in september when i was up. Used to dig worm aroudn that area but since heard it is now banned.
