  • Silly old trout!

I had heard from various sources recently that a fair number of sea trout were being caught just up the road from me. Fishermen acquaintances, a conversation in the fishmongers and one on a bus!

With the promise of beautiful weather today, Lynn and I agreed to have a go at them and I sorted out the spinning gear last night. Not sure what happened overnight, maybe Lynn had forgotten to take her brave pill, but this morning she said she didn't want to go!? She reckoned if everyone was talking out it then it would only be a mater of time before the water bailiffs turned up and with their draconian powers, they could impound not only the fishing gear, but the car as well.

Oh well, as it was indeed a gorgeous warm, sunny day, it was time for plan B.

Now I love any opportunity to have a day out across the Clyde to Argyll, so it was the ferry to Dunoon and the bus to Benmore Gardens.

A view from the ferry. 18th April, warm, no wind and not a cloud in the sky!

Got to the gardens about 10am, just gorgeous!

After a great day,we got the bus back to Dunoon and had a couple of pints in the Argyll hotel. Not a bad view from the terrace!

So no sea trout, but a good day none the less!

Funnily enough, Lynn said the same thing! They must be on exercise off the Russian coast.

When we vote for Independence in September, you can have them back!

True Paul, but no fish! We are trying Whitley Bay Park this summer for a wee change, but still going out on Northstar from Hartlepool.
