  • Seahouses?

Hi there, wondering if anyone could give me any information about fishing Seahouses

We're planning a session for early February, is the fishing any good at this time of year?

Last time I fished Seahouses was November, had plenty of coley but want some decent cod this time. Because the bloke I'm fishing with can't clamber over rocks, we're restricted to fishing the harbour. Was told by a local that casting seawards off the wall is best, can anyone confirm this?

Does the fishing depend on a good sea, or can you catch during calm conditions at this venue?

    Cheers for any guidance, Graeme.

        seahouses

I was allways told fish end of pierand cast towards holy island into kelp beds, but the last time i was up to go boat fishing the corner of the pier was fenced off around lighthouse which would hinder your cast. not too sure about smaller breakwater, its getting quite rundown now and you have to watch for waves breaking over top.

We stayed in a caravan last Aug for a week at Seahouses. I fished most days.
There are two piers. The main one for someone having mobility probs is the one with the light house on the end. You can drive on and fish from the back of your car, From the end of the pier you can cast into the mouth of the harbour. Be warned it is very snaggy.
The other pier on the far side of the harbour seems better to fish off. It is a canny walk and you have to go when the tides down a bit due to the bit as you walk on first is low down so the full tide covers it for a couple of hours.
I fished off this pier, Float on the inside at the end for coalie and wrasse. Went off the other side to the open sea with my beachcaster.
It is very rocky and snaggy.
I did not catch any cod as it was early however even then i had reports of some nice cod caught.
A lot of anglers fished from the rocks out to sea but if mobility is an issue forget it.
I know a good pier in Hartlepool where you can park almost at the end of the pier and walk couple of hundred yards to a spot. Its called the Red Light. It is an alternative location and very user friendly.

Thanks for your replies. Will give it a go, and hopefully get something better this time! Will probably concentrate on casting out to sea rather than fishing inside the harbour.
            Cheers, Graeme.
