Hey guys I’m getting excited about fishing and I don’t even have any tackle yet

I would like to no if you can fish from Tynemouth and or South Shield piers?
I only ask because going through the forums some say there are gates to stop you getting access to the piers to fish? Don’t want to drive there to find I can’t get on.

Also Blyth piers, can you fish form these piers ok?

    thx...rob

At blyth you can fish the pier without the windmills on, you can get some good fish off there in a good sea. I like to fish on the bend as the end can get crowded sometimes

Also at blyth there is a security guard stopping cars going down into yacht club, as you need a pass to get through, but you can park your car in the car park which is on the right as you go down the road, and then walk the rest of the way i think the security guard sometimes lets you take your car down, but normaly we just park in the car park and car has always been fine

Thanks' for that, so you can't fish the pier with the windmills on also it sounds good if there is security guys to help prevent damage to our cars.

Is it best to cast out to sea or into the harbour?

          thx...rob

The guards are not there to stop damage but i have never had any problems.
As to where to cast, sometimes that depends on where you can get a place.
At high water as with many people i would choose the " bend",simply as so many people head towards the end it is hard to get a place and tangles can be a problem, casting into the beach end.
On the same bend if you catch into the river end towards the red lights then there is a good chance of a fish,or a lobby, but it is mixed ground.
Simply put the whole pier can fish, all depends on the tide, winds etc,as does all fishing.
I might have some info sheets on the pier i was given,if i have and can find them i will E mail then to you.

You see alot of people fishing the East pier at Blyth but its very unsafe and dangerous, your car is left unattended and its a mile walk to the lighthouse, best advice would be to use the East pier as described above or fish off the rocks if you really fancy fishing Cambois, never heard of any trouble with kids/vandals on the Blyth side best to park as near to the beach as possible as the CCTV scans the Caravan Compound which is in eye shot of the said Car Park, you need a Blue Badge qualify for a security pass to gain access into the harbour ie through the barriers.

It is and from what i have heard there are bits of "floor" missing, rails the same, holes that could break an ankle.
I for one feel no fish is worth the risk nor the red face of having to get carried off if you do hurt yourself.
