i know a lot of people think theyre a pest but i set out last year to try and catch some. mate told me he had caught loads at a place called cricceth in wales, so i went for the weekend..didn't get a one.
however, have since had several nice ones from seaham north pier. i think you can also get them off the blast beach. mine have mostly been on mackeral and ragworm.
i think they taste pretty good too, rolled in flour and fried. found them a right sod to skin though!!!
a local fish shop to me charges over five quid a go so they cant be that bad
A lot of years ago I fished a place called Port William up on the west coast of Scotland, you could catch dogfish every cast, with every bait, fished at every distance, I'm not exaggerating when I say kids could have caught them with a hand line. We were fishing off a little jetty straight out of the back of the car, great fun, managed to catch a couple of codling too 5lb and 3lb.
Might just have to take the caravan up there again sometime to see if they are still around. Never tried eating them mind, but I know of a boat skipper that would eat nothing but dogfish, he said all other fish were scavengers.
Never quite understood that statement
Before you judge a man, walk a mile in his shoes. After that who cares?... He's a mile away and you've got his shoes!
