Thanks' for the kind offer, im sure some of the guys I drink with do fishing, ill ask around If i get nowere I will take you up on yjour offer

Just one last point, can you fish at say North shields on the banks of the river?
Or is that not allowed free? The nearest place to me is Newburn Haugh, but I would have thought that was a river fishing spot and you would need a licence to do that. If I remember right South Shilds has a long pier, maybe thats a good spot.
Right Im off to do more reading posts and finding out info.

    thx...rob

I know that mate - but as he asked about Tynemouth to Whitley I assumed he was north of the Tyne and told him of the marks I knew that would best suit a beginner in that area
      Ooh a new vid!

        Hello Guys.
I took a google Eath image of the entrance to the tyne, the South Shields Pier looks good is that a good spot, see faint red circle? Or the Tynemouth side looks good also.

Hello Rebon and welcome to the forum.
I have never fished of the pier you mention, but iany pier is good starting point for new comers.
There was an old guy fishing next to me and Insano on Steetly last Thurs.
He must have been in his mid sixties. He was with a group of other guys on a mini bus. ONLY THE SECOND TIME HE HAD BEEN FISHING.
He had a basic beachcaster and fixed spool reel set up. I even ended up casting it out for him.
He had on an old yellow reflective gortex coat and nylon waterproof bottoms. Basic fishing box.
In other words he did not spend a fortune.

I returned to fishing couple of year back after a 30 year break. I bought all my stuff off e-bay second hand to see if i would enjoy it again.(£40 abu reel £50 abu beachcaster). Used waterproofs from work.
Promised myself if i did i would splash the cash and treat myself. I have now and am getting tackle such as modern beachcaser reel and rod, Floatation suit, new box with carrying frame etc.
I,ll not bore you,but its like out else if you like it you will invest in better gear eventually.

It will not harm you to meet up with local members who will help.

          Tight lines Mick.
Personal best, 12.5lb Tope Scotland. 22/05/2012.

take a ganders at all the catch reports mate...should give you an idea where the fish are being caught...as to S/Shields Pier I've never fished it but LOADS of lads on here have...although I'm given to understand it's a mile walk to the end of it

(of course look at both North and South marks....good places everywhere)
