  • Seat Conundrum

Just had my rod re-furb'd...looks nice and sparkly

prob is coz I got the nice posh shrink wrap i can't put the original size 28 fuji seat back on

So...have had a look at earlier threads and people seem to favour the following:
    • ABU Griplock - prob is they only go up to a size 27.8
    • Fuji seats - have seen these online up to a 30 (which could be the way forward)
    • Talon reel seats
    • Coasters

I'm kinda drawn towards the Talon at the mo' - just coz it's different...but is it any good?

What are peoples opinions on coasters? are they a faff on?

    any help/advice greatly appreciated...
    Ooh a new vid!

loads of rods have been knackered with the talon reel seat they can crush your blank if you tighten to much get a fuji reel seat much better than copies
    Goal for 2012 a 30lber

        firefly adjusti

I like the griplock because the trigger grip seems to give you more support during the cast. I also bought a more traditional fuji type from firefly angling (their own make) it's adjustable, strong and does the job very well, biggest size 28 - 30 EBAY - Item number: 180202430999 I think i only paid about £8 with postage, hope this helps

i use both the talon2 and the abu grip lock, both great seets but i find the abu doesnt lock that much, its alright until you get out over 5lb then it starts moving round on the retrieve, as for the talon, this is great it grips like a vice, only downfall is its a bit awkward on the old hands in them freezing winter nights

Iv'e been using a conoflex memesis+ for the last 10 years or more, i use coasters and clamp the reel on with the clamps provided with the penn 535 i use. it's great for most heavy ground fishing and have had no probs. whatsoever
It's a thin line that seperates an Angler from a madman standing on the beach in january at midnight in -5 degrees with a northerly wind blowing in your face

Went with the size 30 Fuji seat - so problem now resolved

...had a look at the Talon2 and can't say I was that impressed with it by just looking at it...looks a bit fiddly/flimsy
