  • Huge cod lost at Tynemouth!!!!!!

Longbenton & Seaton Burn SAC had a match on Tynemouth Pier today (Sat 5/1)

Fishing at the top of the steps on the lower level at the drum end, at around 11.30am Charles Cervantes hooked into a whopper!!!! He had to put in a great deal of effort to get it to the surface (It's about 50 foot deep there) and when it appeared - MY GOD - it was huge!!!!! Over the years we have seen a few cod 10lb+ caught here, but this specimen dwarfed them!!!! We reckon it would have been somewhere between 15-20lb!!!!! It was too big to get in our landing net!!!. A huge effort was made by the lads fishing to get it onto the steps, even having to contend with a huge swell, but despite all efforts it rolled over once too often and was lost !!!!!

Charles is gutted !!!! We are all gutted!!!!! This could have been a record fish!!!!

Tynemouth (BOTAC) are fishing there tomorrow - so you never know!!! (Take a gaff in case!!!)
So long and thanks for all the fish! (www.lsbsac.co.uk)

Hard to bear mate unlucky maybe it must of been some size if you could not get it in your landing net i assume it is a big net.

Thats a real bummer that, me and few lads had a bit of a debate in the tackle shop the other day on whether or not you would like to see the monster that you had just lost? I was hooked into a good fish weeks ago and lost it without seeing it, i was devastated but not as bad as i would be if i had saw it. Just got to keep trying havent you....?
