hi no need to get disheartened, bigger fish are to come yet jan and feb very good months but we need the right winds, last few years feb has been very good if you read old catch reports you will see were the fish tend to be caught, get yourself some good lug for when weather turns for the better ,white worm or white magic can come into its own this time of the year when it goes quite for a little while,if you look at catch reports now u will see nobody is doing much now but it will pick up just have yourself some decent bait ready.
johndid you know panel pins comes in diff sizes ?

you're prob not doing much wrong or different to most people mate - like Gregg says join any of us on a session and you'd feel better about yourself instantly even the old and bolds out there have quiet runs
and as John says...there's LOOOAAADS of time left for those Cod
small fish is better than no fish - catch a full house on a 2/3 hook flapper and it's still good funOoh a new vid!

Mate, Tony (the great wallsendo) is out 2moro night and Phil (philitofish) is out 2moro daytime. Either of them will show you the marks they fish and they normally catch something. I'll gladly show you the marks i fish but like John says the seas are bad at the moment! I have just had 3 blanking sessions in a row and we tried everywhere and everything we could to catch! Get yourself along to the friendly match on the 5th and just follow some of the ladsBest shore caught fish:- Pollock 6lb+ Beadnell, 9lb 8oz Cod Blyth Beach

Dont worry - i was studying the local angling match results and it looks like 1 in 10 cod is a 5lb fish. The big fish are very rare.
If you want to catch fish, scale your gear down and fish little white plastic booms - I've had good size cod on them too and you get loads of bites due to better bait presentation.PB Boat Ling 24lb
PB Cod Boat 17lb
PB Cod Shore 11lb
PB Boat Pollack 9.5lb
PB Mackies 1,000,000

I'm heading to Blyth beach from about 1800 for about 4 hours or so...I know the seas are crud but I'm going there anyway...
Tactics
Scratching rig first cast - 2/3 hook flapper with small baits
Next cast - normal size bait on a single hook or pennell
at least by trying both you give yourself options - and maybe a size fish
Baits
rag, mussel and maybe some frozen crab if I'm feeling flushOoh a new vid!

Dishearted..? Frustrated...? Angry..? Feel like kicking your gear off the end of the pier...?
Well don't despare..
Welcome to the world of Angling!!!! thats what fishing is all about. hours and hours of nothing then 5 mins. of glory
Never give up, your next cast might catch you a fish of a lifetime.
Ive been trying for the last 30 years and had a few fish of a lifetime, but mostly just blanks...
Keep at it....It's a thin line that seperates an Angler from a madman standing on the beach in january at midnight in -5 degrees with a northerly wind blowing in your face
