  • Calpe, Spain

Going on holiday at the end of May to Calpe near Benidorm and was wondering if anyone has fished there. Taking a telescopic spinning rod and some bits and pieces and wondering if anyone has fished there and has any tips. Expect the usual Med\' tactic of float fishing bread, prawns, fish strip etc will get something.

Went to Benidorm in January and fished in the harbour there. Took garden worm with me as I thought they would probably do well but the fish wouldn\'t go near them (I could see them). The locals mainly use bread and some use pieces of the smal squid you can get from the local markets. I haven\'t had a lot of success over there but then again I don\'t have much success over here. If you can take some maggots with you I think they should do OK. Good Luck !!l
If all about you are catching fish, cast in their swim !!!

            Hi Peter,

I\'m off to Spain this month as well (costa de la Luz on the Atlantic coast). I have been trying to get some details about the fishing off the Internet which is proving hard \'cos most of it is written in bloody Spanish! Apparently you need a license even to fish in the sea see below:

\"A maritime recreational fishing licence (1st and 3rd Class) is required for fishing from the shore or from a boat near the coast. Once obtained it can also be used in other regions of Spain. It is obtainable form the offices of the \'Delegación Provincial de la Conserjeria de Agricultura y Pesca\'. There is one office in each of the provincial capital cities. \"
