  • Spinning with Braid

I\'ve got myself some Fireline for spinning for Pollack this year. Just one question, well two really....Should I use a mono leader, and if so, what knot should I use to tie the leader to the Fireline?

    Hi davy,

I use fireline on my spinning gear as well.....works well. I do use a leader on my braid from the boat but not while spinning. I guess it\'s personal preference. I use 15 lb braid which has a test dia of 4lb mono I think.

I also started using fireline for spinning from the pier last year and also dont use a leader from the shore.Mind i have gone back to mono as i found it not as good from the shore. Not matter how i set the drag i lost 10 times more fish with braid than mono due to the hook pulling out as i was winding the mackerel/colie agains the tide ripe of the tyne, mono gives it a little spring that helps the hook hold beter.(my opinion)

No dout though braid is great from the boat.
