putting high build over the tape will affect the action of the rod ,and the tip sensitivity will be affected for bite indication all so zziplex spigots are reinforced as is the butt on the male section where the tip goes in, they dont need metal bands , as they are strong enough most probably the best in the business .just my opinion

the amount of high build applied to the end of the tip covering the reflective tape could of contributed to the crack off, even under whipping rings on a blank affect the action ,

Cracking birdie lol. As far as high build over the reflective tape accounting for the crack off, eh ? Really. Might impede bite registration yes. I know some lads over sunderland way sand down blanks to death to save weight. Proper nutters if you ask me lol.

That tip ring won't have helped matters either, it's akin to putting solid steel wheels onto a high performance sports car and then expecting it to handle the same way. Fair enough perhaps for heavy rock work and short casts but on a powerful rod like the TXL it will make a big difference to the recovery when power casting

At the end of the day they're fishing rods, saving a few grams here and there wont mean squat from a fishing point of view imo.
