Advice wanted Whitby area

I've been to Whitby a few times lately with my caravan, stopped at a site called Ladycross plantation just a few miles from Whitby. At the time it was just for a weekend of relaxation, taking the dog for a walk on the beach and seeing how full we can get the chemical toilet before muggins has to empty it! Anyway, I read in the paper lately that there are some spanking fish being caught at Whitby, so I'm now putting two and two together and hopefully getting the square root of 16 (ignore that bit, Stella kicking in)therefore I'm writing this thread to see if anyone has ever fished the beach that I usually take the dog for a run on, it runs between Whitby at the south end and a little place called Sandsend at the north end, now that the chilly months are here I'm just wondering if this beach holds them illusive codling things.

Any info on this beach or any of Whitby fishing spots would be greatly appreciated.

P.S. Anyone with a sound knowledge of fishing this area is more than welcome to come along for a weekends fishing with me (saves me emptying the toilet)

Hi Craig, I have fished Sandsend beach but just the once mate, Its a canny mark and I was told to fish it last couple up and then back down. It is quite a steep beach too (compared to this area) so you are fishing in a decent enough depth of water.

I fished with the lad that made this site.

Thanks for the info and the link Jim, those photos certainly bring back memories (nice sea on too). I guess it's just a case of take the dog for a good walk along the beach at low tide, make a mental note of the holes and come back nearer high tide when the holes are full of fish, couldn't be simpler could it. I think I'd best have a look and see if any of the caravan sites are open over winter, might just disappear down there this weekend, sea's going to be flat but at least it should be comfortable fishing.

Just for your info' we used to park the car by the side of the road about 1/2 mile from Sandsend, there are some steps down onto the beach (about 60 or 70 steps if I remember) and we used to walk from there south to the point where you can't go any further (at high tide) and then back again, it's a canny walk but it's a beautiful beach with some lovely holes and gullies.

Whitby

Craig there is a forum for local anglers at Whitby. I often have a look to see how the fishings doing down there.
There is a lad on the NESA forum lives Gateshead way regularly travels down for the boat fishing in the summer.
I really fancy a look out on a boat at Whitby when the spring comes round.
After a mile or so you are in really deep water and there is some good fish to be had.

ps took the family for a day last summer and it feels a long way to go for a days fishing. Mind i was with the missus my young and his mate,so that would make any day longer.
