  • Reel Value

I know that Reel Value has had a mention on the boards previously but I would just like to add my bit. I have no connections businesswise with Reel Value and it was from a reccommendation on the boards that I sent off my two Abu 7000's. I asked John at Reel Value to service the reels and renew the brake blocks if required. John mailed me when he recieved the reels and also telephoned me to discuss if I wanted him to change the bushes on the reels for bearings. It must be said that the service from John was first class without a doubt and my reels were returned as if they were brand new. I would have no hesitation in reccommending Reel Value to anyone and I will certainly be using them again in future. Check out their website by typing in Reelvalue into the search box. The total cost for all of the work carried out was very reasonable indeed and will take some beating.

    Cheers.

    AA.

I'm a bit puzzled as to why you sent your reels away to be serviced. It must of cost a few quid surely you could of had it done cheaper and quicker locally.

From personal experience, I have been taken to the cleaners regarding reel servicing in the past where I have had it done locally. Reel Value came reccomended from some of the board members from this site and it cost just over £6 to send them off. The actual cost of the servicing is between myself and Reel Value but lets just say that it was a hell of a lot cheaper than I have paid in the past. Add to this the new bearings and fitting of the bearings and I got a brilliant deal so I will continue to use Reel Value in the future.

        Cheers,

        AA.

have to agree, service all my 525 mags myself and the pleasure i get after stripping down to the bare frame , clean all parts then oil grease where necessary makes me feel good knowing they will run and work fine and saved a feww £££s

you have to apreciate though that not everyone can or wants to strip and service there reels.

having someone you can trust to do it properly is a big plus.

ive known reels that have been given in for service litterally have the side plate removed and given a squirt of wd40.

exactly that is why i do mine myself and also have the satisfaction that they have definatley been done properly
and it is so easy to do , just recently i had a cracked 525 cage and it it took me 18 mins to strip the old one and put all the parts back on to the the new cage, was even going to put it on nesa the before and after unfortunatly not able to find cable to do it

J.C.Almighty ! All I did was to post a comment on the excellent service that I received from 'Reel Value' ! To put things into perspective, I dont service my car myself as I dont know how to do it and wouldnt attempt to do it for fear of causing untold damage to it ! The same theory applies to my computer, television set etc, etc, If you are able to service your own reels, thats fine ! I cannot service them so I send them off to someone who can. As for Angler's United at Lynemouth, I have been meaning to pop in there to have a look around but every time I get to the place,There seems to be a gang of the local yobbos hanging around the front of the shop and I am reluctant to leave my car to go into the shop. Whilst on the subject of Tackle Dealers, I have today, tried three different dealers in Northumberland for flyline backing, One only stocked sea fishing equipment, another only stocked backing in 50m spools, (I needed two 100m spools), and the other one has been closed for a fortnight for whatever reason ! I will be online tomorrow to order some knowing that I will get what I have ordered.

                        Cheers.

                        AA.

Cheers Davey mate, I will certainly try again in future and if the lad is as good as people say, I would certainly use him for all of my gear, its just finding the right tackle dealer in the first place.

                            Cheers.
