Some of the century carbon metal range are spot on mate. Just picked up a carbon metal express from jarrowdisco and Fishfingers is busy cleaning it up for me. They are classed as mixed ground rods but are plenty soft enough to have some good fun on the piers for a decent fish and can put a weight a long way. The CME and 3c ld are both spot on.... Ot if your after something lighter do as mark says, grab a tt ultra lite!

        Got a mint flattie fanatic mk1 for £80 ?
Or use a carp set up cheap and cheerful mate :-)
        I am a fisherman !
It is not merely something that I do
It is who I am !
Fishing is not simply my escape.
It is where I am supposed to be.
It is not a place that I go
But a lifelong journey that I am taking
It is a passage that was shown to me and that I will continue to show others.
When you understand all of this you will then know me .
        And we will fish together

If you're fishing really light in the summer, cheap rods are fine. In fact, in my opinion, they can be even more fun because they bend so much. I got a Greys BZE 3oz rod for £100 a few years back to use for flatties off the beach in the summer. It's ok, but have found that a cheap Capalan telescopic (£29.99) from Decathlon Shop is much more sporting for the same job - better sensitivity and it bends double under the weight of a 1lb flounder.....
              PBs...Cod 8lb2oz.. Turbot 3lb2oz.. Whiting 1lb8oz.. Coalie 1lb9oz.. Flounder 1lb7oz.. Dab 15oz.. Plaice 13oz.. Bass 1lb 6oz

A salt flattie 1-3oz I float spin and of course flattie bash with it lol 11ft even though it states 11ft 6"???. Can be used with a multi or a f.s. , I prefer f.s. method with a size 5-6000 reel and 8lb braid mainline with a 30lb shocka ,bites and sport all the way
