    Rods

Jonny i know totally where you come from, different rods are needed for different jobs and then theres some you just have to have aswell!
I know some people are Zziplex snobs and theres nothing wrong with that, likewise i know of people who only have one rod for everything. In all honesty though one rod will not do for all your fishing. You cant expect a Greys Apollo and a SL30SH will do you for life LOL

honestly i think any rod is bonus, will pull fish in any day ,if ya struggle on sommit big if ya lucky enough ya will get it in or up from the mark ,a mate next to you is an advantage too help to lift to take pressure from you or the rod,i use the ronny thompson for most marks ,but piers i will still use that same rod also twinned with me old rod century slammer as a different bait up method or rig option, but like some folk say its everyones choice . im happy catching fish simple as

even if the lad did(i said did) carry 5 or 6 rods to a mark its his own option
dont meen to say you seen him and need to buy all the same rods to fish that mark
                common scence prevails
fish in the water right bait will catch them wether its a shakespere / conoflex/penn/ diawa/ron tomp/ect ect ect rod
bait and hooks catch fish not the rod / reel / angler
(ok beter casts get fish on difrent days but angling is a sport / a plessure or pass time )

                each to there own
(and luck sometimes comes into it )
                just enjoy the fishing experiance

iam in particulary looking for a silstar orion 11ft 6 surfcaster by les moncrief...if you have one lying around(only 3 ever made)please contact me
Jonny, and the rest of you guy's.

I ain't slagging nobody off! and Jonny with regards to this being directed at you... you are totally off base! There is 100 and 1 angler's out there who believe such an armoury is necessary for success! Scroll through the NESA forum and see for yourself! But guy's you lot are totally missing my point - As I stated in my original post I have no problem with people spending cash how they like on there chosen sport that they love, personally I would love nothing more than to have the finest of tackle... My point is all this talk of necessity is totally putting of the newcomer to the sport when he tallies up the cost of it all and I ask is it totally necessary?

this is the last i am going to say on the matter
point 1..you said you seen a lad on nets forum listing his rod collection....only me done that on there
point 2..you said i said all theese rods are nessasary...i never said sutch a thing
point 3..you said i wasnt even a collector...i made it quite clear i was

but no hard feeling just ,make sure you get facts right b4 you make points,i understand about newcomers but you didnt have to say the above 3 things

this is how you opened your post........Just been browsing NETS forum where an angler lists his armoury of rods, all of which he deems necessary... ffs he had more than the local tackle shop in his collection and he doesn't collect as a hobby! The list literally ran into thousands of pounds worth!

My facts are more than correct, Ive just spent no more than 5 mins on the site and listed 4 members who believe it is necessary, now contrary to your belief I aint gonna publicise there names or openly criticize for that matter, like it says on the original post-I have no problem with people spending there money how they see fit and only ask if it is necessary and state it does put newcomers off... as judging by many other replies other anglers totally agree with me. If I had directed this post at you personally then you would have every right to be miffed... fact is it's not!

                              Ingnorance and Facts

Jonny has stated he has so many rods because he enjoys them and finds different rods necessary for different fishing situations. I was another who posted about the importance of using different rods for different fishing situations. Simple fact is you can not use just the one rod for all your fishing, go down the beach with you Greys Apollo or RT Axcellerator and SL30SH and then try to scratch for flounder using a 2oz rolling lead or try and cast a 28g Abu Toby for bass and the penny may well drop. Rods are different lengths, casting weight ratios and action for a very good reason, to carry out there intended purposes. Some people enjoy trying all aspects of sea fishing and dont throw the rock rod back in the shed in March when the cod dissapear again untill next October. As for buying expensive gear it does not make you a better angler and may not potentially catch you any more fish, however it is more reliable and of a higher quality. The difference between a £300 Century, Zziplex or Conoflex and a £50 Shankespeare or Ron Thompson is very plain to see. So if you have only the one rod and feel that is sufficient good for you, but please do not criticise others for buying many different expensive rods. As said people enjoy using them and collecting them, and there is nothing wrong with this. In future i would keep any opinions like this to myself or amongst friends instead of launching an unprovoked attack on another well experienced angler. If you are still feeling discontent then i will let you try a selection of my rod collection and it may help you to understand.
