Owing to delays in delivering my boat, I wasn\'t out at the weekend. Instead spent Sunday at Bempton cliffs doing a bit of birdwtching with the other half. Sea was dead flat and saw quite a few small boats out enjoying themselves.
However, I have to comment on a couple of unsavory sights. First was two dead Kittiwakes, hangin from the cliffs entangled in green monfilament. Second was the sight, not ten yards from one of the observation areas, of a lead fising weight hanging on ten feet of line from a tangle of mono on the cliff top. Near this tangle (on the naughty side of the safety barrier) was an empty plastic pop bottle.
I emphasise, this is an RSPB nature reserve. It is visited by large numbers of people with expensive optical equipment. If anglers leave crap like this in such a place IT WILL BE SEEN.
I am ashamed that i might be associated with the kind of moron who would be so irresponsible as to leave such stuff around to pollute the environment.
