No not really, but when the macky do come in (And I know its a while yet) does anyone know of anywhere quiet, away from all the chavs, that still fishes well? I want to take the bairn out but don't want him stood shoulder to shoulder with idiots and numptys.

He comes still water fishing with me and I am trying to teach him good habbits etc - so the last thing I want him to see is people throwing fish around, swearing their heads off, getting wrecked etc.

He's 7, so does know right from wrong, but I would still he rather he was catching without all the idiots etc.

your best chance is get him up very early arriving on the piers at first light. the fishing is better while the idiots are sleeping it off and it will be more of an adventure for him.

i always took my daughter with me. we'd arrive in darkness and head off home with a bag full at 6.30 just as the crouds start to turn up.

Probably a good idea fella, he does seem to enjoy it when we get up really early to head out to the still waters.

it's a bit of a hike but amble, north side is really peaceful, and you get the mackerel from the little jetty, depend's if the little fella can hack a hike.

with this warm spell a don't think it'll be that long really, only a few year ago we had them at the beginning of april.

and it sicken's me when a bloke can't enjoy a bit of fishing with his son, without worrying about the chav macky basher's....!

Cheers buddy - how much of a hike are we talking? he goes out walking the dog with the wife and that's normally 2 or 3 miles a time.

just don't leave nowt in the car, cos it's a hell of a walk back.

Beadnell pier. Got to be high tide don't get many chavs they seem to prefer using the bus fare on a tenner deal
Most of the rock point marks fish ok just don't get the quantity of fish

park at howick next to the south end of the golf course.if youve been to the beach there its where ice cream van parks.turn right out the gate and its a 3/4 mile walk,go through the kissing gate just before the castle and climb up the hill jump over the fence.follow the path to the hole in the wall and walk down to rocks just past the cliffs.fish towards howick very deep water and no knackers there at sunrise !! if the sea is big dont go very dangerous.very slippy when wet too apart from that great fun mackrel,pollock,coley.hope this helps

Kev, you are talking about Embleton/Dunstanburgh Castle area as Howick is actually south of Craster.

the best place to fish for macky along our cost is undoubtedly the piers and we have loads of them,the reason being is that [depending on the tide ] you are fishing in fairly deep water, but for me the main reason for fishing the piers is that for some reason sprats and sandeels congregate around them and if you fish where the bait fish are you will have a better chance of catching the predators feeding on them ie macky ,coalies, pollock etc and the best time is always first light if the tide is high or late evening when the sun is dropping over the horizon but if the conditions are right you can catch them any time of the day, if you want to catch loads but are not bothered about the sport that a macky can give you use a 6 daylight trace,if you want to feel the fish run and fight, macky lbs for lbs are as good as any fish in the sea ,use a freshwater rod 6 lbs line on float or lure and just enjoy ps never been really bothered by the so called chavs
