From memory they were of the time as the mk 1 appollo, when grey's made good rods not like the cheaper qlty of today. They were a good rod, pretty pop in there daywell worth a look,if it's right money u will have a decent rod

I have a pair of them from when they were a quality piece of kit, not very forgiving if you have a pendulum technique that is a bit snatchy, tips varied a lot really stiff to start but then soften a bit with use....as previously said from a time when rods were big and a bit brutish but in the right hands a great piece of kit, personal preference is now for something a bit lighter and slimmer.....biggest mistake I made was cut both of em down for up tiding off lincs coast and in the Humber, wish I hadn't as they are a bit too stiff really!!! Not long after the original 300t a match version was produced never tried one so can't really say how they performed.

used to have an Apollo mk1 14ft excellent rod but some of the tackle shops say greys are not as good as they used to be
I had a problem with my grays fly rod contacted them sorted within 3 weeks.
then I got a pair of brand new grays over trousers when they arrived found them to sub standard phoneD greys they did not want to know.
they only give warranty on rods and reels not clothing.
so I do not buy any more greys products.

When the mk1 appollo was made, grey's were made in this country, they were very good rods, imo not the same qlty as the zippies but they were very fine rods none the less, then the mk2's came out they were made over seas n the qlty went threw the roof(horrendous)heavy in weight, prone for snapping made with cheap qlty carbon, the mk3's r the same imo if they were any good we all would be using e'm.If uv'e got a mk1 keep it,coz they r the bizz for the ruff stuff n very desirable
