  • What species?

    Just wondering what is the most unusual/strangest species (for our coastline)of fish you have caught on the north east coast? Mine has to be a strap conger

          I once thought I caught a puffa fish...........then I realised it was an inflated Johnny wi a knot in the end lol

            No wierd fish but I pulled a 250/300mm ring made out off lead in thought I'd hooked a monster

                I once has a roll of carpet fish... A good 3 foot squared... Was like pulling in a sailfish. Also pulled a bird once that spat back all over me... ;-) think it was a petrol... Smelt rank! Better than some ive pulled though haha

                      My weirdest fish is a Torsk just over 3lb.Quite a rare fish to be caught in shallow inshore waters.
                      Taken from the wash end of the South pier in the 80,s.
                      Its now in a jar in Sunderland museum.

                            Two horrible looking little fish off the Black Path many years ago, they turned out to be Bullheads ?

                              Probably a Weaver for me, taken on a tursty old Zen

                              Watch out if you hook one of these they can sting you !!




                              Strangest looking would have to be the trusty old Long Spined Sea Scorpion





                              perfectly harmles as Wee Ver said, but a face only a mother could love lol
