That's right Paul, there's NO FISHING signs on the pier gate so I'm suprised they weren't made to leave. As you say they probably thought they were safe, although as we know, a lot of the marks we fish aren't but we fish there anyway.Cheers, Keith.

The odd few of us that care enough to say anything are few and far between.
Discussing it on a a forum is one thing - but there are thousands of anglers who don't use the web as a resource and there's even more who do but don't take part in any kind of dialogue - or dare I say even give a sh*t.
I'm not promoting apathy but what I am saying is that unless the licence can guarantee adequate "policing", there is always going to be antipathy towards this subjectOoh a new vid!

Policing won't come into the equation? Surely if the government are to introduce a licence scheme and charge the public for it then they are effectively taking charge of it, then responsibility by the government should automatically be accepted by them... sounds as though they are bullying us for our money and we get nothing in return!!! Or do we? Have I missed something on this debate?Marc

If what you say is true then we should all reject the licence - as it's blatantly another excuse to impose a stealth tax on us
And regarding this instance the lads want shooting...at the very least there should have been the Plod waiting for a polite word at the end of the pier or even having their collars felt...complete waste of resources and money - just lucky that no one diedOoh a new vid!

What exactly do we get for our money? apart from a bonny coloured piece of paper with a few printed words on it that they will pass of as a licence?
Stating that licence costs will only cover administration leads one to believe not much cash should be left for tax collection. So what do the government get out of it and more importantly what do we get out of it?Marc

here's a start...
Petition to: .We the undersigned petition the Prime Minister not to consider a sea angling strategy, sea angling license or any restrictions on sea angling without providing more and bigger fish first.
...although I feel it's lacking in substance...
If people like I could quite easily come up with a better worded petition - but not today...as I'm at work and I'm fishing the NESA Charity match tonightOoh a new vid!

well i actually went on seaham pier yesterday it was calm with only a very slight breeze when i first got on, then the wind started picking up after only 1 hour and i could see the swell starting to build from a northerly direction so i packed up and came off.
Not worth the risk at all.

3 things are going on here (1) these lads were trespassing and the resulting negative publicity from their actions places our sport and our ability to behave responsibly in a bad light (2) Access to Tynemouth Pier by resposible anglers belonging to Clubs with permision from Port of Tyne to fish it legally in daylight hours risks being removed as a consequence of their stupid and self centred actions (3) How dare they treat the emergency services with such contempt!!!! They should be named and shamed and expelled from their club - if they belong to one. Dick Heads!!!!!So long and thanks for all the fish! (www.lsbsac.co.uk)
