I found a vague reference on the 'net that Cod are deemed as adults when they get to 57-60cms...that would probably equate to 7lb in weight...I am of course guessing
Jeez - that's quite a benchmark then eh? Like Mog says I wonder how many people out there have actually caught a "Cod" before now...Ooh a new vid!

You telling me there is Cod snobbery (possibly) perpetuated by those who are "real fishermen" and that there is a possibility that this benchmark is merely a myth to make those who've never attained the heady heights of a 7lb Cod feel small and insignificant
I require scientific facts as to when a Cod becomes "adult"Ooh a new vid!

Cod is Cod.
The bigger they get the better it feels, doesn't matter how long you've been doing it. Everyone has their dreams of the 'big one' It's what beckons us to the beach year after year.Last edited by seanyrooroo; 22-11-2007, 09:26 PM.To get away from dragons and catch monsters.

The difference is not in the weight but in the perceptive nature of the captor and the background he aspires to. I've, therefore, never caught a cod (as the word was never mentioned in the household) but I've caught some big codling, or codlings, to be accurate.
