  • Old Abu Reels.

I once came across a weblink page on these threads that carried information on how to find the age of Abu Garcia reels by the number on the footplate of the reel. I have tried the Abu site itself without success, can anyone point me in the right direction, any help would be much appreciated.

    Cheers All,

    AA.

Cheers for the reply Fishingmark and call me an old thicko but ! the reels that I have carry the following numbers:

      910513 34.

      91 05 06.

So Mate, any idea on the year of manufacture for these reels, (sorry to be a pest), if it helps, they are both marked 'Made in Sweden'.

      Cheers in advance,

      AA.

I thought it was simple but now I've had a look at all of my Abu reels I can only date three of them using this method. Looks like some of he numbers are serial numbers and not date stamps Sorry I thought it looked simple using this method but I have viewed loads of forums and there seems to be plenty confusion about it out there.

Thanks Mate. I dont see why Abu cannot make it easier to tell the age of a particular reel instead of going into quantum mathematics !

          Cheers,

          AA.

I agree mate. I remember finding a site a good few years ago with a full explaination of the numbers and changes to them over the years but I can not find it.
