Popped in there myself this morning.
            Just to see, like.
Thing is i'm not overly keen on a pier without railings, especially Seaham as there's some tremendous breakers around at times.
Would much prefer the south pier but although there's some attempt to get it back to the club there's nothing imminent at present. So membership for me is pointless right now. It's a pity they can't get a Lottery handout to replace the railings, or even get local businesses to chip in for repairs.

Fished the bottom of the pier, landside of the gates on Saturday and it was horrendous for losing leads. Not too bad further up I'm told, but without access to the south pier I think I'll give it a miss for now.

There looked to be a really nice bay at the landside of the pier on the north side, with a strip of sand seemingly pretty rock free running down into the sea.
Might give it a go there tomorrow and see for myself what delights it holds.
Told the missus I was going on a diet. I'd only eat what I caught

I gave the bay a go yesterday. It was pretty much snag free as I suspected and it ran straight down into deep water too with rocks and a bit of kelp either side. You have to cast straight though or you'll be in snags.
Didn't have a bite all day.
The worst thing was the constant stream of people walking along the short beach stretch which is only pretty large stones, no sand.
Didn't object to their right to be there but with a flask of hot coffee in me it made my toilet needs very stressful..........
Just as well I wasn't wearing chest waders.
