I do think it has nothing to do with skill, just sheer luck getting bait right under there noses! Me & my m8 were casting within metres of each other, with baits prepared & frozen exactly the same, we were reeling in baiting & casting at the same time, I caught why didn't he?

"Unlucky" Tony Bet that kept you awake mate? Was up there on Monday wanting to fish Cullernose/Swine dene, Stopped at that lay-by to check on the sea-state, both marks were way to heavy, 3 lads on cullernose were coming off/washed off. As it happens that mark looked fishable as well.

Decided on rocks on front of Craster harbour, 2 good bites, didn't hook-up....
sounds like a fish of a life time....

Prepared some bait last week with what I had left over
Razor fish, squid, mussel, black lug, & peeler all on the same hook
Bout 2 hour before bottom & had the bite of a lifetime big thud then almost took the rod into the sea......... Anyway fish kept diving down & I struggled to keep it out the kelp beds, sonik rod was struggling & I mean struggling, then I saw the fish & no fishing tale it was a f*****g monster definately the biggest Iv seen my mate went to get it & cudnt get a hold
& off it popped to hunt for another day, GUTTED!!!
I'm guessing it was high double figure
At least 3 foot with a bigger head than a Rottweiler

So anyone with a spare couple of hours get up there & get it so I can find out its exact weight!
This area has done me proud over the last month, definately worth a visit
could it not of been a big dogfish, having a head like a rottweiler.

see m8 if ya had been in a yak ys would have got it lol.
very unlucky m8 i,ve had it happen 2 me at cambois i was fighting this thing for 45 minutes & it was pulling me down 2 water, my m8 got hold of me a few times. i did get it within 10 ft of me but went under ledge at my feet & just could'nt budge it, 2 b honest it had 2 b top teens or a big conger, the bait i chucked out was the size of a beer can on 6,0 pennel.
                it is gutting m8.

I had a massive Cod in Norway couple year back. Snapped off and went belly up in the weed just out of reach. Kept hold of my mates hand as he tried to grab it but soon as touched it swam off. My mate nearly went in after it. Beachcaster was bent double.
