  • Cooking fresh fish

    Every time i cook my catch it curls up in the pan! any idea how to stop this! have tried scoring the skin!!

        Aye I was made to buy a one just for fish, she was sick of changing the oil after I'd used it.

              tried both of them lads!! it only happens when i cook fish i've caught, stuff i've got from asda is never a problem!! think i'll just get a fryer lol

                  I would'nt know mate.......can't catch any fresh fish I do have a mate who kindly gives me some and i batter cod and bass or trout and such i score, rub with herby stuff and cook in foil in hot oven for 10-12 mins
                  Best shore caught fish:- Pollock 6lb+ Beadnell, 9lb 8oz Cod Blyth Beach

                      If you watch Rick Stein he usually comments on how fresh the fish is when he cooks it and it curls up...

                        Curly fish

                        It's a good sign if it curls up. It means the fish hasn't been through rigor-mortice and the muscles haven't relaxed ready for decomposition. Yum-yum.
