Some fish like haddock and mackeral, are best over the gunwhale and into the pan,but cod imho taste better after rig has set in , taken out of the fridge after a day or two, brought to kitchen temp before frying/cooking. Decent size cod taste better if they have been frozen for a few weeks. everybody has their own ways i suppose. Wallsendo youv'e been watching too mutch ray mears lol. poor little rocklings

                Rockies

I saw some huge rockling down Taylor's Fish Shop at N Shields Quay a while back. Two of them for sale to eat and not all that cheap. They were labelled as "Rockfish" but I'm pretty sure they were rocklings - maybe about 2lb each. Considered buying them and then remembered all the slimy gunk that theyre covered in when you unhook them and thought better of it....
....can't be much worse than jellied eels that cockneys swear by - if youve never tried them...don't! - slimy, chewy and tastes muddy.
                PBs...Cod 8lb2oz.. Turbot 3lb2oz.. Whiting 1lb8oz.. Coalie 1lb9oz.. Flounder 1lb7oz.. Dab 15oz.. Plaice 13oz.. Bass 1lb 6oz
