  • Squid shocker

    fishing johnsons ( near frenchies) saturday night i got a small but whiting type bite thought not another small whiting.
    when i landed it pennel rig fouled it a squid about one and a half pounds first ever on this
    coast in 45 years bright red and coverd me in ink. i have had octopus but not squid
    has anybody seen any lately must be the warm weather this winter

      Ive had them on spinners in the summer but never landed one on bait. One that size would make very nice eating!

        Was it a cuttle fish very much like a squid they start to move closer in shore in spring to spawn.

          There's a few getting washed up there was one on seaham beach about a foot long dog dound it seen them washed up before but more spring summer time

            The Trawlers catch quite a few Squid off our coast,up to 2ft long.

              i ve always wanted to fish for them . , might get a chance to use my squid jig soon

                Found one washed up but still alive on Bamburgh beach last December. I returned it safely to my freezer.

                  I have had great success recently fishing with squid
                  I wondered why, as I always thought squid was from deep cold waters well away from the North Sea, & wouldn't be too much on inshore fishes diet!!

                              There was one on the slope bewteen seaham piers a couple of weeks ago. Took it home and cooked it for tea.lol tenderest squid ive ever had.

                              Has been fishing really well lately, this is perhaps why
