What would the easiest route to get to Whitburn from the Tyne Tunnel?

Head to S/Shields and then follow the coastal route?...Google Earth has just given me a very convoluted route that would guarantee me getting lost

    any help greatly appreciated
    Ooh a new vid!

    That would do it IMO

the quickest way would be to carry on up the a19 take the left when you get to boldon and strait thru to whitburn but mite be a pain in the arse if u dont know the route, but the s/shields to s/land coast route will be the easiest, just keep on the coast road till u get to the jolly sailer pub carry on a few hundred yards and you will see latimers just park in near there then strait down on to the beach, good luck, mick

Coastal route would be easiest option, when you hit whitburn village carry on,on your left you will sea a disused garage which is now latimers seafood deli, carry on past there watch out for speed camera, just after the camera on the right you will sea some modern apartments if you park on the roadside near there but when you walk onto the beach try and keep in line with the apartments and thats the mark to fish.
IF YOU DRIVE PAST MORRISONS YOU HAVE GONE TOO FAR.
          Regards

Once through the tunnel head up the A19 and take the first slip road (approx 1 mile). This drops you down to a r/about, turn left onto dual carraigeway but get into the right hand lane and turn right at the next r/about. This puts you onto the John Reid Road (dual carraigeway). From then on just go straight ahead at every roundabout you come to (think there's 6 of them). Eventually you'll see the Marsden Inn pub, straight ahead at the r/about, drop down the steep little bank and turn right at the r/about at the bottom (do not go straight ahead at this one as you'll find yourself trundling down the steps to Marsden Beach). You're now on the coast road heading towards Whitburn/Sunderland. Just keep on this road. In Whitburn there's a set of traffic lights, straight ahead and about 1/2 mile further Latimers is on the left hand side. First left after the garage put in the car park behind Latimers.

            Hope this helps
