  • Pilchard oil

I used to have great success fishing for pike with sprats & a little bit of pilchard oil which I put into water soluble bags I wonder if this would work for cod & the likes

I definitely think that it can only be a bonus especially on night sessions where fish are hunting for scent. When I first started fishing I always painted the pilchard oil on my baits and normally had more success than the other lad I fished with who didn't use it. I have just recently bought a bottle after not using it for years so can't wait to get out and give it another whirl.

I used to inject it into deadbaits for pike with not much to brag about
Then a friend of mine gave me some little bags about 1cm used in the medical trade I attached with elastic bags they were great
It's definately worth a shot, I was even of thinking of soaking a sponge & putting it inside squid & lashing on with elastic thread
