  • New Rod Reel combo

Alright lads looking for new rod and reel in region of £200-£200 as my budget, I have been recommended to get the okuma magnetix 30 reel and the pro am rod available from reel sport but this is a little over my budget, any of u lads have any ideas. Mainly fish lower tyne marks, beach and rocks. Cheers

Tried the okuma magnetix 30, found it too bulky so got the magnetix 20 and
found it ok, with a budget of around £200, you should be able to pick a decent combo up, have a look at Glasgow angling you might be able to get a few ideas of what you want.

If I was you I'd watch the for sale section on here. You'll get a crackin rod and reel for £200.
        All the gear, no idea.

I've got an Okuma 20 and find it OK.
It's got magnetic overrun which you find on much more expensive reels.
Some say the reel capacity isn't good enough at 170yds of mono but hey, I haven't come near to emptying the spool yet.

Also have a Sonic SKS which I find OK too but if you go for the Okuma you'll have enough to get into a much more respectable rod.
Lot's of things in the low to mid £100 price range. Maybe a AFAW 6 plus bait, or the Leeda or even the Sonik SK3 . Offer on the SK3 here.
You'll find the Sonik well taken care of under warranty and remember they're only in Blyth if you need to drop the rod in for a repair. I'm doing just that myself. A fiver for repairing a ring plus the loan of a rod until they finish it.

Actually if you call there you may find they have an ex demo one for sale or one you can try out before buying.

As previously suggested I would look for second hand, on here is a good bet. In my opinion new you will get a good reel for around £100, the Akios range of multis is worth a look. That doesn't leave much for a rod though.

I recently bought an RT Axe and Akios 757 CSM for rough ground work for a total of £240 (north east tackle) but might be a bit of a strong set up for your needs.

If interested there is an old model leeda icon power on a well known internet auction site at present for £100 inc. postage. Old model but still has tags on it so is effectively new. Would be a good rod for your mixed needs partnered with Akios 656 for around £100 new

I personally don't like to buy second hand if I can help it. But if something was in good enough condition I would maybe consider it. I'm using a old century rod now which I like but was told when I enquired about getting the butt section done up it would cost more than the rod is worth and it was probably older than me at 26yrs ha. It has an old reel seat on which would need replaced and a new one fitted and then some shrink wrap all the way up, could anyone put me on to someone who could do this at reasonable price.
              Regards

You could fit new shrink wrap yourself mate. I done one of my rods not long ago. It was only £15 for the full length. And you can pick rods and reels up in 9/10 condition on here. I got both of my rods off here.
                All the gear, no idea.
