I know it's de rigeur to have the Shakespeare Beta boxes and I'm thinking of getting one myself...if only to be accepted among my angling peers LOL
But seriously - how much gear do you need to take with you on these mini expeditions we go on? Is it not sometimes a bit cumbersome?
Ooh a new vid!

You have to get the harness for your back as the strap they come with is c..p! Look on flea bay i got 2 on there with the breakaway back harness on for pennies.
They can be a bit cumbersome if you are climbing around rocks, ladders or steps etc,the back rest is very good but can knock you off balance if very heavy however the advantage is that it frees up both your hands and does'nt roll off your shoulder
The boxes are good especially on the beach as like Kieth says you can perch your ar$e on it. They are reasonably comfortable to carry with the conversion kit fixed onto them but are a total pain with just the shoulder strap. If you're smallish and you fill the box up expect to get tipped over backwards and not be able to get up again - seen it happen, a mate had that many leads with him along with a full flask and a bottle of pop, box was a ton weight, offered him money to do his trick again but he wouldn't.
If I'm fishing on the rocks I or if I know I'm going to be on the move a lot I tend to use a rucksack rather than the box. Greys rucksack, the one with the hard plastic base so no water seeps in.
I've always been a fan of the rucksack... I think that's why I have, so far, not succombed to the big box

Mr Wallsendo,
Ive got a Shakespeare Beta box with the Breakaway carry system fitted... also has the Breakaway tidy system inside (lead shelf etc), its sat in my shed for over a year now, if your interested drop me a pm and make me an offer.
Got to agree with most, I prefer a rucksack for the rocks and box for the beach. I have never bothered with the conversion though as I find it is always just a short walk to any of the beach marks I use.
Jim.
Remember, some people are alive simply because it is illegal to shoot them.
Another rucksack fan here and have been for years. Lovely and comfy to carry if you have to walk any distance to your marks.
Can't sit on it though. GRR!!!
I too am agreat fan o the rucksack until recently i out of habit triedto sit on it and a gripper spike stuck up me ass fortunately i was fishing next to a lifeguard station and a young lady was able to suck the poison out without anyone making a citizens arrest i was very grateful i think i may return to the box!!!!
regards
