Elbows are half way up things so don't count - go for a bounce on the forehead, thats the end of a limb (the Neck) I used to do it all of the time when it was muddy on the ground to keep my shoes clean. Honest Jim it will make you feel much better or get some tonguebells, little weights for the tongue. Eylid presses. NO EXCUSE
Hope this helps"I mock thee not, though I by thee am mockéd.

Ian, don't know where to get toungebells so limped through to the kitchen and opened a tin of cocktail sausages and stuck one on each end of a cocktail stick. Pretty good but hunger got the better of me and the tin is almost empty. More suggestions needed.
Please make sure the next suggestion is better as my spell checker just exploded when I wrote toungebells.
Jim.Remember, some people are alive simply because it is illegal to shoot them.

In reality, any form of casting is dangerous in the wrong hands.
There are many key factors including; casting style, shockleader/lead rating, knots used, surroundings, other people nearby and so on. The over-riding factor in my opinion is the competence of the angler concerned and his/her concern for the safety of others. We all know the varied spectrum of individuals that our sport/hobby attracts. I would rather be fishing on an open beach of safety conscious competent casters/anglers who may wish to swing a lead when required to reach fish, than say on the end of a pier in Mackerel season with the dangerous assortment of multiple hook rigs, weak line, poor knots and unsuitable rods with someone holding the other end who may not appreciate or care about the dangers to others.
Unfortunately, we have to rely on someone else's common sense and our own vigilance as fail-safe!

I knew I'd get an emotive response on this one...
I need to practice my casting technique, but until I get out fishing more often I'm not going to improve...at best i could prob do 70/80 yds with an overhead thump
I also used a multi for the first time in years the other week and that, again, is another art to master if you're not used to it...I'm a fixed spool man normally, but I have to concede that it's not really the best reel from the rocks
I always use a leader (from the beach) 10lb of breaking strain to every ounce of lead you intend to cast with....that's what Sea Angler told me 20+ years ago and funnily enough it's just been written about again this monthOoh a new vid!
