Have fished for over 25 yrs and can safely say i have never had any bother but you can never be to careful try if u can to fish where your familiar with and there are other anglers around I used to find it a bit scary at one time when left on the beach on your own but u do get used to it try to fish in areas where its not to remote until u become a bit more confident 1st rule in angling is stay safe

im not billy no mates (honest! haha) but only one of my pals fishes and he works dodgy shifts so most of the time I go fishing on my tod and most of the time on a night, or early hours and never come across or heard about any bother, it can be a bit un-nerving being on your jacksy on a beach or where ever in the dead of night but whats to be scared of? theirs nowt or no one there to hurt you, all the divvy scraggy smackheads will be in the house off their tits at that time, and who else is daft enough to be on a north east beach in winter, freezing cold, pitch black (apart from us? ) never felt the need to keep my knife at hand and never will, to me the only thing to keep an eye on is the sea(and my rod)

can I just say aswell if you do much fishing on your own get yersell a little radio, makes a difference, might sound daft but its like a bit of company, plus if your on the beach on your own you can always hoy a few moves in and have a little dance( big fish! little fish! cardboard box!) keeps you warm!!! Joking lads!!!

first time ive heard of that, i fish the heugh a lot and fished there for over 40 years.

                          Cheers for the advice lads.

Im glad that the majority of you have had a safe nights fishing.

I think I'll hit one of the piers, bound to be people on there and I won't risk it if the sea looks rough. Not confident enough for rock marks yet.

And I'll look out for those ghosts!
                          Thanks again

Aye James, you just need to keep an eye out mate, personnally, I have never had any bother when fishing on my own but I dont do much night fishing due to having to work shifts. Dont worry about ghosts mate, its the LIVING that you have to watch out for and NOT the dead !!!!!!!!!

                            cheers.

                            aa.
