hmmmm never seen any,, or any shells washed up on the beach or owt,, see alot of them in pembrokeshire. why would you use them for bait would you not just eat them ??
Just read something about them in Total Sea Fishing...the guy was using them as bait for Bass...the peeler was as big as his hand

Walkway shields, get loads of them in March and April, caught one a few years back and it must have been 5" accross, it had alsorts of things growing on its shell.
They like amckerel lol as i found out fishing for whitey in that mark.
Had the odd ones, harbours usually (maybe by-catch dumped by the boats?), think they're like some species where we see a load one year then none for ages...
