  • Newbiggin Open

    Evening all,

Fairly new to this game and looking forward to fishing the next Newbiggin open in 2 weeks... Problem being I aint got a clue about what bait is required, venues, marks & tackle? Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks in advance for any responses.

Hello Jon, didn't know you were an angler.

I'd offer to help, but I know as much about shore angling as I do turbine blades

I'm sure the lads will advise you.
      Cheers, Keith.

A bad days fishing is better than a good day at work.

Any of you lads familiar with bog hall rocks? Does it sound like a safe bet for cod?

am not too sure, but i have heard u need quite a long cast to fish there, or with a short cast ul get snagged most times, not too sure, and am sure some1 else can confirm this as i have never fished there.

Cheers for the links, that Newbiggin one will come in useful. Last thing I want is to follow the crowds like a lost sheep and hoping for the best.

I've just fished Collywell bay and we got 6 cod and 2 rocklings between three of us. I'm going to try and fish the open if i'm off work.

Hello cod basher ,if the conditions are right then Bog Hall rocks will be shoulder to shoulder as it's been the last few times we've fished opens.
You can take the lad out of Walker but .......

NHR is a fantastic spot with some big fish coming from there. The Amble open was won from there last year with a 15 1/2 lber.

So what exactly are the right conditions? Are there many holes up there? Sounds as though I'm going to struggle for a spot up there? Any tips on how to fish the place?

                        Cheers.
