16 foot plus rods

Hi, anybody used one of the 16 foot or longer rods on the local beaches?

How did they do? Any advice / recommendations on them?

16 foot rods! Never tried one. Should be able to hoy it out a long way but can you keep your bait on? Anyway I'm so shortsighted that I probably wouldn't be able to see the end .....

need to have big arms and back musckles lol

I've got a Shakespeare K2 Team Extreme LDC 18ft Rod, which was a surprise birthday present off the wife a few years ago. I didn't think I'd have much use for it at first as it seemed very flimsy for our coastline, but it gets out when I'm fishing clean beaches and it's an absolute dream to cast and fish with.

I use a 4oz gripper (max) with a clipped down rig and I've never had a problem with bait not staying on the hook. I also find it a breeze to cast and the distance you get from a simple overhead thump is unreal, plus the bite detection is second to none.

However, I wouldn't dream of using it over rough or snaggy ground, if there was any sea on or with the suggested 4-8oz weight range, as I think the tip would part company with the rest of the rod, as several long rods already have when cast with 6-8oz of lead.

I've got the Greys Triplex 16ft ,in my oppinion it's great for clean beach fishing and as already mentioned as long as the bait is clipped down then there's no bother with it flying off ,again as Rob says the bite detection is great ,after using mine a few times now I would reckon this type of rod would suit an eggwhisk rather than a multipier .
