Daft question but I haven't done much cliff top fishing. If you're by yourself and get one on, how do you get it up. Just hand ball it and let the line spool around you? Or is there a better way if you're alone.

Depends on the size of the fish mate. Anything upto 4lb should be ok to get up with your reel. Heavier than that and its handball job and hope for the best, sort the line out after you land the fish.

Shove as much of the rod as you can over the edge and stand on the butt, then haul up the line by hand pulling it through the rings; the rod will act as a shock absorber and keep your line from scraping along the edge - means you can keep a safe distance from the edge too. When the fish is just below the rod tip, pick up the rod & swing the fish in (but avoid "high-sticking" by not lifting the rod tip high, rather swing it in sideways).
