When my coolbox has had fish in (not very often like) and not been washed for a while I just scrub it with hot water and then use some Detol. Finally wipe it totally dry with some kitchen roll. Does the trick.

        Hi Tich,

I use lemon based cleaning products and hot water to remove and help mask the fishy smell.

Lemon hand-wash - for washing hands
Lemon washing up liquid - for soaking and washing gear
Lemon Flash Wipes - for wiping down tackle box, fishing gear, and hands after a fishing session

Don\'t forget the Jiff Lemon for squeezing on your baked cod

May the holes in your net be no larger than the fish in it.

After only two weeks i would consider hat still clean, lucky if mine got washed out once a year. Mind i have no sence of smell. You could not beat the old fishoing baskets, after a session you simply dunked it in the water a couple of times.

My creel\'s more air than basket. When I come up I leave it in the garage and the old girl cleans it (she\'s only 80 so no probs there) Clare keep it zipped !!!!!

Last time I was out fishing I left some peeler crab in my boot and didn\"t realise it was there. I didn\"t use the car for a few days and it was hotching. She who must be obeyed was well impressed lol.

Useful topic, dumped mine after New Haartley Open thinking I\'ll sort it when I get in only for the drink to kill me for a couple of days. Then let some weeks passs to find maggots in your box. Dreadful.

Add to that I\'m getting a funny fishy smell from the car for a couple of weeks until I clean it out to pass it on when I find a nicely fermenting bag of mussell in the boot, no wonder the cats were gathering round the bin!

Anyway car passed on and a nice newer cleaner smell delivered. :P

Thankfully its chucked it down for the last few days, The waterproofs are getting a nice rinse along with the hat, gloves and headlight ,, I have turned the jacket a few times in the rain, it should come up smelling of roses or at least rain water wot that wich is a lot better than 2 week old squid (it had defrosted unfortunatally) I might leave it for a few more days just so it gets a propper wesh;\'\'

Easiest way is to leave it in the living room, hallway whatever, feign ignorance and wait till your lass sorts it out.

Tich be careful about leaving it on the line too long mate. Me mate next door left his Newcastle shirt on the line overnight and some b****** nicked the pegs. Just a warning mate.
